ABOUT Lucas Goly

Luca is a figurative surrealist painter from Bed-Stuy, Brooklyn. Before painting, he worked as a bridge and building engineer, studying how structures are held up, supported, and stressed. During the pandemic, he began teaching himself to paint, using the canvas as a place to work through uncertainty and internal shifts. His transition into art was not a departure from engineering, but an evolution of it.

Luca’s work draws from the subconscious, exploring the inner frameworks that shape how people move through the world. Figures appear grounded and human, yet slightly altered, revealing the quiet forces we carry: memory, identity, pressure, resilience. His compositions feel like portraits of internal architecture rather than literal scenes.

Growing up in Bed-Stuy informed his sense of posture, gesture, and presence. The neighborhood’s history of self-definition and reinvention runs through his work. Luca paints not what is seen, but what is held inside.

He lives and works in Brooklyn.
